Design and Stability Analysis of dual PI control Method for low power Boost converter

Boost converters are commonly used in industry to scale up low voltages in various applications, including photovoltaic energy harvesting, wind energy systems, and electrical vehicles. This paper delves the analysis of the designed low-power boost converter utilizing a dual-loop Proportional-Integral controller to achieve enhanced performance via voltage regulation. The designed converter converts 6 V input to 12 V output. The dual-loop PI controller combines both the outer voltage loop and inner current loop to enhance the dynamic response and reduce the ripple. The PI controllers are designed by performing stability analysis with the help of SISO tool. Simulation results demonstrate that the dual-loop control approach effectively mitigates output voltage fluctuations, improving transient response. The simulation results verify that the ripple contents are reduced significantly, and the ripple voltage is observed as 0.4 % and 17 % ripple in case of single loop PI controller.
