Implementation and verification of Elliptic Curve Diffie-Hellman (ECDH) for Secure Key Exchange Using FPGA and MATLAB

Elliptic Curve Diffie-Hellman (ECDH) is a widely used cryptographic algorithm for secure key exchange, offering strong security with lower computational cost than conventional techniques such as RSA. This paper presents the simulation and verification of Elliptic Curve Diffie-Hellman (ECDH) on an Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) using MATLAB and Xilinx Vivado. The proposed approach utilizes elliptic curve point operations and modular arithmetic for efficient scalar multiplication and key generation. The FPGA-based design ensures hardware acceleration and scalability for real-time applications, while MATLAB facilitates algorithm validation and simulation. Experimental results demonstrate the accuracy and robustness of the design, enabling secure key exchange between parties. The integration of FPGA and MATLAB highlights the potential of combining hardware and software platforms for cryptographic applications, ensuring optimal performance in resource-constrained environments. This study establishes a fundamental framework for leveraging reconfigurable hardware to develop advanced cryptographic protocols.
