Portable Diagnostic Equipment Design for CAN-Based Automotive Chassis Electrical Systems

To address the limitations of traditional automotive electrical system diagnostic tools—such as monofunctional design, poor integration, limited scalability, and inadequate portability—this paper proposes a modular and serialized diagnostic equipment solution based on the Controller Area Network (CAN) bus for automotive chassis electrical systems. The design consolidates functionalities into a streamlined platform, integrating inspection, diagnosis, and guided troubleshooting capabilities. It adheres to principles of generalization, informatization, and modularity, ensuring compatibility and scalability to enable comprehensive technical condition checks, functional testing, and fault diagnosis for automotive chassis electrical systems via a single device. The solution supports field-replaceable unit (FRU)-level fault localization, meeting the demands for independent on-site inspection, diagnosis, and troubleshooting in rugged environments.
