Simulated Experiment on Server Cooling Technology in Data Centers Based on Heat Pipe Cooling

In the era of digitalization and artificial intelligence, the processing of a large amount of data is primarily handled the servers. The CPU, as the computing and control hub, is the major heat source. So effective CPU cooling is crucial for the safe and stable operation of servers. This paper builds a simulation server based on a 2U server. It employs a heating plate to simulate the CPU, with input power serving as a proxy for the volume of data processing. Additionally, a heat pipe radiator has been designed for dissipating heat from the heating plate, in order to investigate the cooling performance of the heat pipe radiator. Within the simulation server, temperature measurements are conducted on two heating plates, one with a heat pipe radiator installed and one without. The experiments indicate that the temperature of the heating plates increase linearly with the input power. And the installation of a heat pipe radiator reduces the slope of temperature increase by 48.5%. Moreover, it also greatly slowed down the temperature rise rate of the heating plate, with a maximum reduction of 35.0%. The temperature rise rate of the heating board (CPU) increases with the increase of time, and reaches the maximum at 2 minutes. In actual operation, in the face of a sudden influx of massive data or requests, measures should be taken within 2 minutes to prevent the server from freezing.
