Research on the Operational Reliability of Diesel Generator Sets During Transient Processes Based on the Electromechanical Coupling Model

In the operation of diesel generator sets, frequent load changes and the complex structure of the power transmission system can easily lead to vibration in the transmission system. This study establishes a multi-system coupling model of the generator-drive shaft-diesel engine. The stability of the diesel generator set operation is reflected by the engine speed response. The accuracy of the torsional vibration calculation of the model is verified by the multi-body finite element method. The simulation analyzes the impact of different shaft system characteristics on the transient operation stability of the diesel generator set under sudden load addition. The results indicate that high elastic stiffness couplings significantly affect the transient loading operation stability of the diesel generator set, and mismatched high elastic stiffness can cause system instability. However, the damping of the high elastic coupling has a relatively small impact on the transient loading operation stability of the diesel generator set.
