Design of a High Performance Automatic Test Needle Receptacles Insertion Machine for Printed Circuit Board Assemblies Test Fixtures

PCBA testing is a critical step in PCBA manufacturing. The continuous increase in requirements related to costs, delivery times, precision, quality and traceability determines the reduction to the minimum possible level of human intervention in the PCBA production and testing chain. The paper presents the design steps of a high performance machine which automatically inserts test needle receptacles for PCBAs test fixtures. The results obtained show that the machine meets all the requirements formulated above and allows for further developments if necessary.
