Sensor-Based Safety Design and Management of Smart Containers with Flammable Materials on Commercial Ships Using Labview for Emergency Reporting

The design and implementation of comprehensive safety monitoring system for flammable material containers on commercial ships are the subject of this paper. In order to guarantee continuous hazard detection and risk assessment, the proposed system incorporates real-time data acquisition from variety sensors, such as temperature, gas concentration, pressure and humidity sensors. LabView was employed to create a simulation environment that includes a graphical user interface (GUI) for visualization of sensor data, threshold monitoring, and automated alarm activation in the event of critical conditions. The system is designed to improve maritime safety by reducing the risk of fire and explosions, increasing compliance with international safety regulations such as IMO, SOLAS, and the IMDG Code, and providing early warnings. In addition, the potential for real-world implementation was assessed, which encompassed the integration of industrial controllers (PLC, SCADA) and communication networks (GSM, satellite systems). Future improvements, including blockchain-based secure data administration, AI-driven diagnostics, and web-monitoring, are also addressed. The results suggest that the proposed system has the potential to make a substantial contribution to the efficient administration of hazardous cargo in maritime transportation, as well as the prevention of accidents and safety of crew members.
