Paper Explosion-Protected Ex e Motors: A Standards-Compliant Validation Framework Integrating High-Voltage Performance and Industrial Safety

The rapid advancement of the electrical machinery industry has prompted the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) to enhance technical standards for explosion-proof motors^[1], particularly those classified as “increased safety” (type “e”), with more stringent safety and reliability requirements. In response to frequent safety incidents, such as mine and chemical plant explosions, industries have prioritized safety management, boosting the market share of increased safety explosion-proof equipment. The implementation of the national standard GB 3836.3-2010, “Explosive Atmospheres―Part 3: Equipment Protected by Increased Safety ‘e’,” has imposed higher standards on the insulation systems of large high-voltage motors^[2]. Consequently, testing methodologies for these motors have become a critical technological focus. This study integrates theoretical and practical approaches to examine partial testing procedures for 10kV increased safety explosion-proof motors.
