An Automated DSIM API Framework for Design Simulations of SSTs

The Solid-State Transformer (SST), also known as the power electronic transformer, has gained significant attention in next-generation power systems. The design of SSTs is a complex and time-consuming process due to their multi-stage power electronics, extensive design parameters, and the need for multiple simulation iterations across various scenarios. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a customized, automated application program interface (API) framework for SST simulation design based on DSIM, a recently developed power electronics simulation tool. The API framework automates parameter adjustments, simulation execution and result analysis, significantly enhancing the efficiency of the SST design process. By supporting parallel simulations and optimizing design iterations, the API framework accelerates the exploration of optimal design parameters, reducing overall design time. Its effectiveness is demonstrated through a case study involving the design of control parameters. This approach offers promising potential for accelerating and automating the SST design process and improving overall design optimization at both module and system level.
