Event Data Recorder for Investigation, Legal Claim and Fault Analysis in Vehicles

Event data recorders (EDRs) are widespread devices that capture information and store it in a non-volatile memory, and their development and implementation have grown significantly in popularity and necessity in the last few decades. In aviation, it is referred to a black box, as the impacts of EDRs have helped to greatly reduce the number of claims fraud and false accusations. In this paper, we offer a low budget way for the design and implementation of EDRs which can be embedded within vehicles. The main purpose of the device is to increase safety measures related to automobiles. The functions and objectives of the EDR are to be crashworthy, to have the ability to create a system for tamper-proof secure storage, and to track the onboard diagnostics. Another feature of the black box is an automatic crash notify (ACN) system that aims to locate and send the incident address and location to the nearest hospital and traffic authorities for fastest response. The system will later provide and provide advanced tracking over the web and mobile devices for monitoring. The multi-functional feature of the system increases its appeal and usability for economic enhancement.
