Marker-Based Augmented Reality: Creating Smart Business Cards with Unity and Vuforia

Augmented Reality (AR) is the technology changing how digital information intersects with the real world to produce new immersive and interactive experiences. The primary technology for this purpose is marker-based AR, which uses visual markers such as images or QR codes to provide exact virtual overlays; therefore, it becomes beneficial for applications that need accurate recognition and interaction. Using Unity a powerful game engine and Vuforia, the leading AR toolkit, developers have a reliable solution for creating and delivering marker-based AR experiences. This application is a simple way of combining virtual information with the physical world by combining Unity 3D modeling and Vuforia marker recognition. The present paper describes the development of an interactive business card AR marker using Unity and Vuforia. With AR technology, the function of business card is also sent as email, links to social media, and multimedia content thus modernizing the process of professional networking. This innovative application of AR explains how AR can develop communication and transform traditional tools to facilitate a better transition from the physical world to the digital world.
