Heterogeneous Integration of Memristor Emulator for Low Power Computing

This paper presents a memristor emulator based on an operational transconductance amplifier (OTA). The proposed memristor emulator circuit contains only one OTA, two external MOSFETs and one grounded capacitor. The circuit follows the signature characteristics of an actual memristor device. In this work we implement a CMOS circuit for spiking signal generation, namely the leaky integrate and fired (LIF) neuron circuit that mimics biological neurons as well. Simulations were conducted using 180nm technology. A key feature of the memristor emulator is its nonvolatile nature, which ensures that the resistance state is preserved even when no external stimuli are applied.
