Metaverse Travel: The Role of Virtual reality and Artificial Intelligence in the Future of Tourism

The metaverse is transforming tourism by integrating Virtual Reality (VR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to create immersive travel experiences. These technologies allow users to explore digital destinations, interact with AI-driven guides, and simulate real-world travel without physical constraints. However, current virtual tourism methods lack realism, engagement, and personalization, limiting user satisfaction and interaction. Many VR-based experiences are static, with limited AI integration, reducing the sense of presence and interactivity. To address these limitations, the Virtual Reality-Based Immersive Virtual Travel Experiences (VR- IVTE) framework is proposed. This framework enhances realism using AI-powered virtual guides, adaptive environments, and haptic feedback, providing a multisensory experience. Real-time AI processing personalizes tours based on user preferences, ensuring an engaging and tailored journey. By leveraging VR-IVTE, users can explore historical landmarks, natural wonders, and cultural sites in high fidelity, improving accessibility and reducing travel costs. This method enables remote tourism, education, and cultural preservation while minimizing environmental impact. Findings indicate that VR- IVTE significantly enhances user engagement, learning, and emotional connection to destinations. The fusion of AI and VR in metaverse travel offers a revolutionary, sustainable alternative to traditional tourism, shaping the future of global travel experiences.
