Automatic Temperature Control by Soldering Station for SMD Mounting

This article is devoted to the automation system of a manual soldering station (soldering dryer) for convection heating for surface-mounting technology (installation of surfacemount device (SMD) components). The advantages and disadvantages of the soldering tools used are considered. The requirements for the automation task of the soldering station and the characteristics of the soldering station model are formulated. The problems that arise when solving the automation problem are listed, and the methods for solving them are the creation of a closed industrial control system (ICS) on a proportional-integral (PI) controller and the selection of a borehole for the heating element and the air compressor motor. The design of the heating control circuit and the functional circuit, the control principle of the system, the selection of the borehole, the calculation of the approximation function and the approximation coefficient, the coefficients of the PI controller for a closed control system are described. Simulation of a closed-loop control system with a PI controller that meets the required conditions for subsequent practical testing.
