Performance Evaluation of Non-Rare-Earth Permanent Magnets in Motor Applications

Modern electric motors widely use rare-earth permanent magnets, in particular neodymium (NdFeB), which can significantly improve their performance characteristics. However, the cost of such motors directly depends on the prices of rare-earth materials, which are subject to significant fluctuations due to the unstable geopolitical and economic situation in the world. In this regard, the search for alternative solutions that can replace rare-earth magnets without significantly deteriorating the operating parameters of electric motors becomes an urgent task. The purpose of this study is to analyze and compare various materials potentially suitable for replacing rare-earth magnets, as well as to compare the characteristics of electric motors with different types of magnetic systems.
