Method of Localization of a Short Circuit to the Housing of 110 V Lines

The operation of electric rolling stock (ERS), due to various factors, is accompanied by the occurrence of insulation damage and the appearance of short circuits on the housing of control and diagnostic circuits, which on electric trains are powered by 110 V lines. Under certain conditions, a short circuit to the housing leads to the risk of short circuits and failures of electrical components. To prevent such cases, timely localization and elimination of short circuits to the control circuit housing is necessary. The 110 V DC network is designed as an IT network with insulation resistance control [1]. An IT system is a system in which the neutral of the power supply is isolated from the ground or grounded through devices or devices with high resistance, and the open conductive parts of the electrical installation are grounded [2]. Short circuits to the 110 V line housing can be both “plus” and “minus”. Two-pole automatic circuit breakers (ACB) are used as devices for protecting electrical equipment of control and diagnostic circuits from overload currents and short circuits on electric trains of the ES1 and ES2G series. Since when disconnecting such ACB, the protected circuit is completely separated from the power lines, this allows relatively quick localization of insulation damage by alternately disconnecting the corresponding ACB.
