Nonline-of-Sight Target Localization Method Based on Array Rotation in L-Shaped Scenario

In nonline-of-sight (NLOS) target localization, electromagnetic (EM) wave reflection and diffraction generate a large number of multipath ghost points. This makes it challenging to distinguish ghost types for accurate localization and increases dependence on precise information NLOS wall positions. To address these issues, this article proposes an NLOS target localization method based on array rotation in an L-shaped scenario. First, the limitations of traditional direction-of-arrival (DoA) estimation in NLOS scenarios are analyzed. Next, the spatial distribution characteristics of multipath ghosts under different array angles are examined. Based on these characteristics, multipath ghosts whose spatial properties remain invariant with changes in array angles are identified. By utilizing the geometric relationship between one-bounce reflection ghosts and the true target, precise target localization is achieved. Finally, through simulations and experiments, the proposed method is demonstrated to effectively achieve accurate target localization.
