Gradescope as a Tool to Improve Assessment and Feedback in Engineering

This paper investigates the transformative impact of the Gradescope platform on educational assessment practices. Traditional assessment methods often suffer from inefficiencies and delayed feedback, which can hinder effective teaching and learning. Gradescope addresses these issues by providing advanced tools such as dynamic rubrics, artificial intelligence for grouping similar responses, and detailed analytics. These features streamline the grading process, reduce the time educators spend on assessments, and enhance the quality of feedback provided to students. Additionally, Gradescope supports answer sheet exams, manages multi-section courses, and allows assignment submissions via a mobile application. This study aims to demonstrate how Gradescope's integration into the assessment process improves both efficiency and feedback quality, thereby contributing to a more effective and rewarding educational experience. The motivation behind this research is to address the shortcomings of traditional assessment methods and to explore how Gradescope's innovative features can enhance assessment practices in educational settings.
