Research on Structural Optimization of Support Bracket Under Complex Static and Dynamic Environment

Under the complicated static and dynamic load, the support-bracket plays the important role to provide supporting and connection for mounted electronic devices. To achieve the design requirements on the strength and stiffness of the support structure, the vibration reduction demand of the device as well as the reduction of mass, an optimization approach for this structure system is proposed. Firstly, the finite element model of the supporting system which contains both support-bracket and device is established. Based on random vibration theory and modal participation factor analysis, it is discovered that the natural frequency constraint of support-structure could be converted as dynamic constraint. After the constraints of natural frequency and static strength were considered, a structure optimization model was established to minimize the mass. The whole optimization process was divided into two phases: topology optimization for concept design and the shape-size optimization phase for detailed design. Subsequently, the optimum solution was obtained by use of commercial optimal solver. The optimum results achieve the light-weight design with all the requests above, which verifies the validity of this optimization approach.
