Development of a Linear Motion Application Using the Sinamics S210 Servo Drive

This paper presents the design and implementation of a workplace application utilizing a Sinamics S210 servo drive controlled by a PLC, developed primarily for educational purposes. The project focused on creating a system that incorporates linear motion, achieved by adapting the workstation to convert rotary motion into linear motion through a newly designed mechanical construction. After assembling the workstation, the hardware components—including the servo drive, PLC, and HMI panel—were configured. Subsequently, a control application was developed to operate the system effectively. To demonstrate the practical capabilities of the servo drive, the application was designed to enable the system to learn and replicate specific movements. Additionally, the workstation was equipped with an emergency stop safety feature to ensure operator protection during operation. Potential use of this workstation is primarily for educational purposes or industrial applications.
