The Implementation of a Control System for an Administrative Building Using the KNX Standard

Home and building automation has emerged as a critical part in modern building development, necessitating the integration of diverse communication standards across various solutions from different manufacturers. This paper focuses on the optimization of building automation for an office complex utilizing the KNX standard in combination with BACnet, Modbus, and DALI communication and control protocols. The project involved selecting appropriate components from multiple manufacturers and developing comprehensive technical documentation using EPLAN software. Due to the complexity of the project, the distribution cabinets were divided across two buildings and constructed with components sourced from different manufacturers. Parametrization of individual components was performed using KNX proprietary software ETS 6. Subsequently, the system was tested and diagnosed to ensure accurate parameter values and constants for optimal operation and cost efficiency. This approach provides a scalable solution applicable to other building complexes, with the primary variable being the number of components and overall complexity of the system.
