Automated Multi-part Printing Using a Conveyor 3D Printer and Camera Inspection System

This study presents a novel approach to automated multi-part 3D printing by integrating a Creality CR-30 conveyor 3D printer with a Keyence structured-light camera inspection system. The primary contribution of this research lies in the development of an optimized control framework that enhances production efficiency, quality assurance, and defect detection. Unlike previous works that focus solely on individual elements of conveyor-based 3D printing or vision inspection, our study quantifies the impact of their combined implementation through statistical performance evaluation. We introduce a set of performance metrics, including print success rate, defect detection accuracy, and production throughput, comparing our method with traditional batch-based manufacturing. Results show a 45% reduction in defective prints and a 30% improvement in production efficiency. The proposed methodology extends current industrial automation frameworks by enabling real-time decision-making and adaptive process control. A comprehensive literature review highlights the novelty of this approach, positioning it within the broader landscape of automated additive manufacturing and smart production systems.
