Design and Implementation of an Internet of Things (IoT) Based Automation System for Enhancing Laboratory Efficiency

The IoT Smart Lab is a state-of-the-art automation and security solution, seamlessly integrating with a wide range of web-based devices. The system provides simple access to and control of the lab through a user-friendly GUI application from any web-enabled device utilizing Wi-Fi and internet technologies. Our designed IoT Smart Lab includes RFID and fingerprint scanners, which increase security and offer the highest level of protection at the door. It also includes automatic fans and lighting that react to PIR sensors for user convenience and energy savings. Users can remotely operate electrical devices such as fans, lights, and air conditioners with simple instructions. The NodeMCU microcontroller, which has a built-in micro-web server, powers the system, which reacts quickly to user commands and provides results in real time. Notably, this technology eliminates the requirement for a dedicated server computer by being flexible and affordable. Modern networking protocols provide comprehensive control and monitoring of lab environments. Integrating RFID scanners, fingerprint scanners, light switches, power outlets, temperature sensors, fire sensors, gas sensors, and PIR motion sensors demonstrates the system's versatility and effectiveness.
