High-Performance MIMO Antenna Design for Next-Generation Wireless Applications

In this paper an ultra-wideband multiple-inputmultiple-output (MIMO) antenna has been proposed based on the coplanar waveguide (CPW) feeding technique. Four antennas with four ports have been designed by using FR-4 lossy substrate with a thickness of 1.6 mm and copper annealed with a thickness of 0.035 mm. The Envelope Correlation Coefficient, Mean Effective Gain, Return Loss S11, VSWR, Radiation Efficiency, Frequency versus Gain, and Diversity Gain have been computed by using 3D electromagnetic simulation software CST. The designed MIMO antenna produces an envelope correlation coefficient of less than 0.001, a diversity gain of 29.99 dB and a bandwidth from 2 to 6 GHz.
