Analysis and Improvement of Measurement Accuracy of Insertion Loss

With the development of communication technology, more and more products need to measure the insertion loss, so it is more and more important to measure the loss value accurately. Occasionally, resonance, interference and jitter will occur in the measurement, which will lead to abnormal results, and the measurement value deviates from the linear law of the target at a single frequency, PCB design and measurement workers often bring serious confusion. In order to measure the design and measurement accuracy more accurately, this paper mainly aims at the difference between the long and short lines (X2-X1) in DELTA-L measurement method, the difference between Delta-L 3.0 and Delta-L 4.0, and the influence of back drilling on resonance, the accuracy of far-end and near-end via measurement, and the influence of pitch distance between lines on Set2dil measurement. It is found that Delta-L measurement with X2-X1≥5inch, increasing back drill and using Delta-L 4.0 can improve the measurement accuracy.
