Single Event Effects Characterization of COTS Components to be Used as Protection Devices

This paper reports recent Single-Event Effects test results on a selection of COTS intended to be used as protection device: overcurrent, overvoltage and watchdog devices. This study was motivated by ESA to identify COTS protection devices immune to destructive Single Event Effects that could benefit the European space community. Out of the 12 tested COTS references, only 4 were not sensitive to SEL or other destructive SEE.
