SCADA-Based Smart Grid: Integrating PV Systems and PLC Automation Using TIA Portal

The integration of supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems in photovoltaic (PV) energy generation within a smart grid framework represents a crucial advancement in modern power management. SCADA serves as the central intelligence that enables real-time monitoring, control, and optimization of PV generation, ensuring efficient energy utilization and grid stability. This paper presents the design and implementation of a Smart Grid system that seamlessly integrates PV generation using SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) technology, developed on the Totally Integrated Automation (TIA) Portal software platform. The proposed system leverages the advanced automation and monitoring capabilities of the TIA Portal to enhance grid reliability, optimize energy distribution, and facilitate real-time data acquisition and control. Key components of the design include PV generation units and intelligent load management, all interconnected through a robust communication network. The SCADA system provides a user-friendly interface for operators to monitor grid performance, predict energy generation, and respond to fluctuations in demand and supply. Simulation results demonstrate the system's ability to improve energy efficiency, reduce operational costs, and support the integration of renewable energy sources into the grid. This study highlights the potential of TIA Portal-based SCADA systems in advancing Smart Grid technologies and promoting sustainable energy solutions.
