Edge-Powered Monitoring with Arduino Nano BLE Sense: Real-Time Industrial Wastewater Quality Assessment

This study develops an affordable, real-time monitoring solution for industrial wastewater quality using edge computing. By integrating pH, temperature, and Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) sensors with an Arduino Nano 33 BLE, we collect and process live data, assessing water quality through a Random Forest Classifier. The system classifies treated water into four grades for specific uses, including irrigation, cooling, or safe disposal, based on Central Pollution Control Board standards. Additionally, an ESP8266 Wi-Fi module and Blynk IoT platform enable remote monitoring, facilitating user-friendly access to real-time water quality data. With a classification accuracy of 99%, this system presents a scalable, cost-effective model for industries, particularly benefiting small-scale operations in sustainable water management. Future enhancements can introduce sensors for specific industrial contaminants, adapting the system to diverse wastewater profiles.
