Rapid Switching Strategy for Charging and Discharging Conditions of Slope Gravity Energy Storage System

Slope gravity energy storage system (SGESS) has the advantages of high safety, long life, no energy storage attenuation, short construction period and environmental friendliness. It has great potential to promote the consumption of new energy and the safe and stable operation of the system. During the switching process of its charging and discharging conditions, the single-channel system structure needs to undergo a shutdown-reverse start process, resulting in the energy storage system being unable to respond quickly to the dispatching needs of the power grid. At the same time, the reversal of the system will generate additional energy consumption. In response to the above problems, this paper proposes a rapid switching strategy for charging and discharging conditions based on a multichannel SGESS and builds a model to verify the effectiveness of the method. The results show that the method in this paper has no energy consumption during the switching process of charging and discharging conditions, and can quickly respond to the needs of the power grid, which verifies the effectiveness of the method. It provides new ideas for the structural construction of SGESS and is conducive to the large-scale promotion of gravity energy storage technology.
