IoT-Based System for Real-Time Recognition of Potholes and Humps with GPS Integration

India's transportation infrastructure faces significant challenges in maintaining road quality, which affects the country's economic growth. Potholes and speed bumps on the road indicate poor road conditions, seriously jeopardizing safe driving by raising the possibility of collisions and vehicle damage. Road inspections using traditional methods are sometimes expensive and ineffective, which makes it challenging to take quick action on these problems. In this regard, a low-cost Internet of Things (IoT) module that uses ultrasonic distance sensors to detect and identify anomalies on the road is proposed. These sensors provide exact surface abnormality detection by precisely measuring the height and depth of potholes and humps. The experimental findings show the system's efficacy, which gives drivers real-time notifications and helps them safely negotiate risks. Furthermore, the module notifies authorities of the GPS locations of potholes it detects, allowing for prompt repairs. We can improve traffic safety, lessen car damage, and offer an affordable method of road maintenance by incorporating this solution into the driver assistance systems which is already in place.
