Indian Herbal Formulation for Repigmentation of Vitiligo

Non-Segmental Vitiligo (NSV) is the most common autoimmune skin condition causing autoimmune dysfunction and oxidative stress that leads to depigmented patches due to melanocyte loss. Current treatments include topical steroids, UV therapies, immunosuppressants and immune regulators accompanies limitations along with various side effects. In this study, We propose a herbal formulation incorporating Psoralea corylifolia (commonly known as Babchi or Bakuchi) and Moringa oleifera for repigmentation of NSV, which is perfect herbal alternative in natural and sustainable approach. Bakuchi, rich in psoralen, stimulates melanocyte activity and DNA repair when combined with UVA light. Moringa oleifera, a potent antioxidant that reduces oxidative stress, promotes cellular repair by enhancing melanin synthesis and melanocyte regeneration. Together, provides a promising adjunct in NSV treatment. Because it is formulated as a topical cream or gel, patient compliance and optimal bioavailability are guaranteed. The existence of bioactive substances that are advantageous for repigmentation is confirmed by preliminary phytochemical analysis and formulation stability testing. To assess effectiveness, clinical trials, in vitro melanocyte stimulation investigations, and antioxidant assays will be carried out. In order to minimize side effects and improve melanin synthesis and immunological regulation, this study attempts to provide a safe, herbal-based alternative for the treatment of vitiligo.
