A Review on Stability of Bangladesh Power System Under Large Scale Solar PV Penetration

Power system stability is becoming increasingly apparent and problematic as the global use of photovoltaic (PV) technologies continues to rise, and their effects on electricity systems are becoming more prominent. The amount of electricity that can be harvested from a photovoltaic (PV) system is contingent on factors such as the weather (irradiance and temperature), the geographic location, and the time of year; thus, system frequency response has grown increasingly vulnerable with the growth of PV production due to the absence of inertia support from such generators. A significant amount of study has been conducted about how solar PV affects the stability of the power network. Despite this, there are various stability issues and reasons in the power system that might result in an unplanned blackout of the whole power system. This research describes a system-level weakness in the Bangladesh Power System network, the influence that higher PV penetration has on the electricity grid's stability, technical challenges, and an in-depth analysis of how large penetrations of PV production impact frequency, rotor angle and voltage stability. Finally, this research wraps up with a review of the technical fixes that successfully deal with the issues of power system stability caused by the extensive use of PV.
