Aligning Analytics Education with Industry Demands: Bridging the gap

In today’s data-driven world, analytics has become an essential tool for businesses, enabling efficient problem-solving, optimizing operations, and driving revenue growth. Organizations across industries rely on analytics to gain actionable insights and maintain a competitive advantage. However, there remains a significant gap between the analytical skills imparted by business schools and the expertise required by industries. This study examines the perceptions of students and professionals regarding analytics education and its alignment with industry expectations, focusing on business schools and corporate environments in Coimbatore. By analyzing academic course offerings and workplace analytics implementation, and utilizing correlation analysis and ANOVA testing, the findings highlight a notable disconnect between industry needs and academic training. These insights emphasize the urgent need for curriculum enhancements, hands-on training, and stronger industry-academia collaboration to bridge this gap and better equip students for careers in analytics.
