Towards A Unique User-Centric Security & Privacy (S&P) Label For Social Robots

There has been a recent emergence of governance, risk and compliance (GRC) related requirements in relation to human-centric artificial intelligence (AI) consumer technology. Presently, there is strong advocacy for AI enabled consumer technology products to adhere to the security and privacy (S&P) requirements, as part of the human user-centric characteristics connected to ethically aligned, trustworthy AI. These S&P requirements apply to AI integrated tech devices, such as social robots, which fall under the class of autonomous intelligent systems. This paper presents multiple novel S&P label designs for social robots (namely the Zümi, Cozmo and Finch), that communicate their S&P related unique descriptors plus attributes to the device users and stakeholders. In addition to S&P related specifics, our nifty user-centric S&P labels for social robots also provide GRC related info, which overall helps create better sense, transparency, credibility and fairness in terms of meeting the S&P criteria for humane AI tech products. To our knowledge, this is the first of its kind initiative towards designing user-centric S&P labels for AI enabled social robots. We envision that our original, creative proof-of-concept S&P labels, as described in this paper, may contribute to future innovation, and lead to further research avenues that benefit the AI tech industry, including consumers and manufacturers of AI integrated tech products, such as social robots.
