Design Research on Shock Absorption in Biped Robots

This study explores innovative design approaches for shock absorption in biped robots, emphasizing the integration of active and passive damping systems to mitigate the vibration issues encountered during locomotion on uneven terrains. As biped robots become increasingly important for intelligent services and automated operations, their stability and longevity are jeopardized by vibrations that may cause internal component damage and reduced operational efficiency. Our research presents a dual strategy combining an active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) model with a spring-running model, aiming to optimize shock absorption in response to varying operational conditions. Through dynamic simulations conducted in MATLAB, we analyze the impact of different values of spring stiffness k on the shock absorption performance, demonstrating that increased spring stiffness significantly enhances the system’s vibrational response. The implementation of the ADRC model further improved stability by effectively suppressing unnecessary vibrations. Overall, this research contributes valuable insights into improving the robustness and reliability of biped robots, ultimately enabling more efficient performance in diverse environments.
