Real-time Flood Monitoring System using Internet of Things in Urban

Flooding is one of the most common natural disasters in the world. While prevention is impossible, damage can be minimized with early detection. So, a reliable, real-time flood monitoring system is more urgent than ever. This paper presents the design and implementation of a real-time flood monitoring system using the Internet of Things (IoT) combined with the ThingSpeak Cloud Platform. The proposed system collects data from a water level sensor, a temperature sensor, and a humidity sensor and transmits the information to a cloud-based platform for analysis and visualization. The system provides early warnings and real-time updates to authorities and residents, enabling timely action to mitigate the impact of flooding. This paper combines hardware and software components to notify the appropriate authorities via email in addition to displaying brief alerts on ThingSpeak. Then, it notifies decision-makers via email alert for flood mitigation infrastructure, aiming to take appropriate action to lessen the impact of flooding.
