Verification of AMBA-based Flash Controllers

Based on the actual IoT chip project, this paper designs a feature-rich and compatible Flash controller, which greatly facilitates the communication between the chip and the external memory. In this paper, we first designed the interface module of the flash controller, which supports APB/AHB/AXIAMBA bus protocols, and realised that the external flash can normally handle the read/write requests from the SOC bus. Through the request sent by the interface module, the register configuration module is designed to achieve the correct read/write and address. The flash controller designed in this paper supports the mainstream 4-wire serial flash in the market. For the serial transmission, the control module is designed to achieve the control of the flash state, instruction set and data flow, and it is optimised in the control module to support all the regular flash operations through the firmware, and to support the XIP function, which greatly facilitates the application of flash in the chip system.
