Preparation and Characterization of SnO2:V2O5 Nanocomposite Thin Film for Gas Sensing Application

Hydrogen (H2) is widely used in various industries, including energy, transportation, and aerospace. However, due to its highly flammable nature and explosion risks, reliable gas detection systems are essential. This study focuses on the preparation and characterization of SnO2:V2O5 nanocomposite films for hydrogen gas sensing applications. The films were deposited using e-beam evaporation and subjected to annealing at 500°C to enhance their structural and electrical properties. The films were characterized using XRD, SEM and EDX to study their crystallinity, morphology, and elemental composition. The gas-sensing performance of the annealed thin film was tested at 150°C, and the results showed a sensitivity of 4.45% for hydrogen detection. The findings confirm that SnO2:V2O5 nanocomposite thin films offer improved gas sensitivity, fast response times, and high selectivity, making them a promising material for real-time hydrogen monitoring in industrial safety applications.
