Enhanced Adaptive Field-Weakening Control for High-Speed Induction Machines Using Stator Voltage Regulation and Nonlinear Magnetizing Inductance Modeling

This paper presents a novel field-weakening control strategy for induction machines (IMs), emphasizing the development and implementation of proportional-integral (PI) controllers tailored for high-speed operations. By dynamically adjusting the flux using measured stator voltage, the proposed method eliminates the need for rotor flux estimation, thereby improving resilience to parameter variations. A structured design approach ensures precise regulation of flux and torque currents while adhering to voltage and current limitations, enabling stable and efficient performance at elevated speeds. Simulation outcomes confirm the superiority of this approach over the traditional "1/ωr" method, showcasing its ability to sustain steady-state operation at 300% of the rated speed. Key advantages include enhanced torque smoothness, reduced current consumption, and optimized utilization of the DC bus voltage. This study underscores the effectiveness of the PI controller design and the robustness of the proposed technique, demonstrating its suitability for high-speed IM applications in field-weakening scenarios.
