Dynamic Voltage Restorer with Integration of Least Mean Square and Optimal Type-2 Fuzzy

The voltage disturbances are compensated by a series connected device called a Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) in a grid supply system. Three phase DVR is operated with a proposed control based on Zero Attractive Least Mean Square (ZA-LMS) for compensation of the voltage Power Quality (PQ) concerns. The ZA-LMS uses a variable step size for weight updating under dynamics. Secondly, the DC and AC-link is associated with a severe voltage fluctuation and it affects the performance of DVR. To address this issue, an Interval Type-2 Fuzzy Controller (IT2 FC) is developed and compared with a classical Type-1 Fuzzy Logic Controller (T1 FLC). An Osprey Inspired Optimizer (ISO) is utilized to achieve the optimum values of variables for T1 FLC and IT2 FC to accelerate the system response, save time and more accuracy is achieved. The parameters of antecedent and consequent are optimized by ISO method and observed that under transitory scenario IT2 FC outperforms the T1 FLC with an improved response of Settle time (ts₃), Overshoot (Os₃), and Undershoot (Us₃) of 0.121s, 2.2%, and 5.6% as per Table-1. This shows that the IT2 FC yields potential results compared to conventional T1FC controllers under a dynamic. For validating the developed control schemes simulation and experimentation results are demonstrated to show the efficacy of ZA-LMS integrated with IT2 FC under different grid conditions.
