Short Course: Power Limits for Amplifiers and Filters

Increasing power consumption in amplifiers increases the speed and also reduces noise and distortion. The most common operational amplifiers, gm blocks and wideband amplifiers are compared using a power-based FOM. Also discussed are continuous-time filters, switched-capacitor filters and GmC filters. They are classified and compared based on a unified FOM. Again power is optimized in view of speed, noise and distortion.
