Online Monitoring of Zinc Oxide Lightning Arrester for Electromagnetic Signal Interference

The metal lightning arrester in a substation is an important device for protecting the safe operation of the power grid and preventing atmospheric overvoltage. To monitor the operation status of zinc oxide lightning arrester in real time, this paper proposes a MOA online monitoring method, which fully considers the electromagnetic interference noise on voltage acquisition and conducts real-time online monitoring of MOA. Specifically, the empirical mode decomposition method is proposed to remove the electromagnetic noise in the original voltage signal and eliminate the electromagnetic interference. By using the harmonic analysis method to implement the fast Fourier transform operation on the voltage and current signal, the calculation is simplified, and the resistance, fundamental wave resistance and third harmonic current of the arrester are obtained. Experiments show that the method can effectively remove electromagnetic noise and useless information, retain effective information, and effectively monitor the running state of zinc oxide arrester. It has been proven that the method proposed in this article has good performance in monitoring the operation of zinc oxide lightning arresters and is more suitable for solving such problems.
