Predictive Trend Analysis in Fashion: Leveraging Machine Learning for Forecasting Styles and Consumer Preferences

One of the areas through which the fashion industry should establish itself at the top line is by the incorporation of new techniques resulting from the fast shift in customer preferences and the emergence of trends. This paper takes an approach in the use of ML techniques in predictive trend analysis for estimating consumer preferences and the emerging or evolving trends in the fashion industry. Using machine learning algorithms that scan through vast databases of previous fashion trends, social media activities, retail sales, and the worldwide cultural transitions, we analyze the occurring underlying trends and predict further trends much more accurately. In this attempt to predict style preferences and assess customer feedback, we look into several machine learning (ML) algorithms, including decision trees, neural networks, and natural language processing (NLP) tools. The current study also discusses the idea of incorporating machine learning with traditional forecasting techniques that may allow it to generate useful insights for marketers, retailers, and designers. It also claims that this will result in better decision-making, tighter control over inventories, and a closer match between consumer want and supply from the fashion industry.
