Simulation and Design Optimization of Electric Field in Ultra-high Voltage Flexible DC Valve Hall

Preventing corona discharge in flexible DC converter stations is an important foundation for ensuring their safe and stable operation. Through the simulation analysis and reasonable structure optimization design, the electric field distribution on the electrode surface can be effectively improved, and the phenomenon of corona discharge can be suppressed. This paper uses finite element simulation software to establish a simulation model of the ultra-high voltage flexible DC valve hall. The overall electric field distribution characteristic is calculated and it is found that the shielding ring on the low-voltage side of the suspension insulator has serious electric field distortion, which is previously overlooked. Based on this, the influence of the shielding ring diameter, ring diameter and insulator length on electric field distribution is studied. An improved method is proposed to reduce the electric field strength from 2630 V/mm to 1800W/mm, meeting the requirements of the design. The research results can provide valuable reference and support for the design and structural optimization of similar projects.
