Design a Real-Time Landslide Detection and Alerting System for Early Warning

Landslides pose a significant threat to life and infrastructure, particularly in vulnerable terrains. This paper presents the design and implementation of a real-time landslide detection and alerting system that offers early warnings to reduce disaster impact. The system integrates MEMS-based accelerometers and soil moisture sensors to monitor soil movement and moisture levels continuously. An ATmega328P microcontroller processes the sensor data and triggers alerts when predefined thresholds are exceeded. Notifications are sent via GSM (SIM800L) modules to designated authorities and local residents, accompanied by an audible alarm and buzzer for on-site alerts. The system is powered by a rechargeable lithiumion battery with solar support, ensuring uninterrupted operation even in remote areas.Experimental results demonstrate the system's rapid response time and high detection accuracy. By providing timely alerts, the proposed solution enhances community preparedness, rapid evacuation, and minimizes loss, making it a supports reliable tool for disaster risk reduction in landslide-prone regions.
