A Greenhouse Tomato Irrigation System Based on Fuzzy PID Control

Soil moisture management during the critical growth stages of greenhouse tomatoes has a decisive impact on fruit size, set, and yield. Traditional Proportional-Integral-Derivative control lacks the flexibility and adaptability required for precise irrigation. To solve the above-mentioned problem, this paper puts forward an intelligent irrigation system grounded on a PID control strategy enhanced by fuzzy logic, integrating Internet of Things technology in greenhouse tomatoes. Experimental comparisons were conducted between the fuzzy PID control algorithm and the PID control algorithm. The findings show that the fuzzy PID control outperforms in aspects of accuracy, stability, and adaptability. The designed intelligent irrigation system features low cost, high automation, and precise soil moisture control, thereby enhancing tomato yield and quality, while significantly conserving water resources.
