Virtual Cluster Security Challenges and Solutions in Cloud Computing Environments

Virtual cluster environments in cloud computing offer significant advantages, particularly in terms of scalability, resource flexibility, and optimization. However, these benefits are accompanied by distinct security challenges that must be addressed. This research employs the PRISMA methodology to conduct a comprehensive systematic literature review, aimed at identifying critical vulnerabilities within these environments. By analyzing existing security countermeasures proposed in the literature, this study seeks to bridge the gap between theoretical frameworks and practical applications in securing virtual clusters. Furthermore, this paper aims to critically assess the strengths, weaknesses, and potential threats that virtual clusters pose to cloud computing infrastructures. It thoroughly examines specific security challenges impacting various types of virtual clusters and evaluates potential solutions designed to mitigate these risks. In addition, a detailed performance evaluation of these countermeasures was conducted through their implementation on a cloud-based virtual cluster. This practical evaluation provides valuable insights into the effectiveness of the security measures. Ultimately, this research seeks to offer concrete recommendations for enhancing the security posture of virtual clusters, thereby contributing to the overall security of cloud computing systems.
