An Automated Solution for Traffic Safety and Compliance Using Wireless-Enabled Overspeed Detection and Data Logging Using Doppler Radar and Visual Capture for Enhanced Monitoring and Enforcement

Among the most pressing problems in the world today is road safety and an obvious means of ensuring this is the reduction of speeds for vehicles. Due to the increase in population and the resulting traffic congestion there is a flagrant case of drivers speeding on suburban as well as urban roads. Traditional speed control measures installed in certain locations do not suffice for big cities and their scope and traffic complexity, because there is no real time information availability or feedback. Particularly because some of the traditional measures being used are so manpower-intensive, those in charge of making decisions rarely have the information they need at the right time. For instance, this research proposes an automated system which provides a solution to the problem of the dangerous speeding of vehicles with the aim of improving safety on the roads. The system measures vehicle speeds without having to stop them in order to take the speed measurement and without delaying the vehicle, so all the speeds of the moving vehicles are captured and sent to a main server. Consequently, oppressed by the speed of the economy, the car offers worldwide speed measurement service. This solves the problem of data recording which has in the past been a great impediment to the enforcement of speeding violations and where detailed traffic patterns of the city or locality can be properly obtained. It allows detailed traffic datasets to be properly obtained as compliance with laws has in the past been a major hindrance in speeding violation enforcements.
