Mini CNC Milling Machine

This paper describes the designing and implementation process of a precision CNC milling machine based on expensive and resource-consuming CNC milling machines. This machine, based on the usage of stepper motors, trimming tools, CAD software, and G-code programming, creates precision machining. The system is intended to be inexpensive and productive, making it suitable for both small-scale manufacturing and educational purposes. The machine is initially designed on CAD software, whose dimensions and geometries are enhanced for optimal performance. Stepper motors were chosen to ensure high precision and reliable control of the machine's axes. G-code is the general programming language accepted by most CNC systems, essentially serving as the foundation for specifying tool paths and machining tasks. We describe the integration of mechanical, electrical, and software components in a high-fidelity prototype designed to perform high-precision milling operations. Confirmation tests show that the machine can produce parts of impressive fidelity. CNC milling machines are widely applied for cutting through various materials. They have great opportunities for further improvement in educational and small-scale production environments, supported by the economy and versatility such devices can afford. This paper concludes with recommendations for system performance improvement and a better fitting of the system into numerous kinds of software environments.
