A Blockchain-Based Anonymous Crime Reporting Platform Integrating Privacy-Preserving NLP for Enhanced Public Safety

Crime Reporting remains a critical challenge in many countries with significant underreporting prevalent in India.The reluctance to report is fueled by fear, anxiety, and the risk of losing community respect, allowing offenders to operate with impunity. In response to this challenge, we have introduced an innovative solution known as KhabriChain—a blockchain-based crime tipping platform.By leveraging blockchain technology, we offer an immutable and transparent ledger that records crime tips securely increasing credibility and trust in the community. KhabriChain also employs cutting-edge machine learning models like DistillBERT(Spam/ham detection) and SBERT Cross Encoder(Text similarity matching) to validate and verify the genuineness of crime tips. The platform would enable civilians to anonymously report crimes they have witnessed or have a knowledge of, empowering them to tip off authorities while safeguarding their identities
